Get Involved

The North Haledon Recreation Commission is a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization. The many programs we offer would not be possible without the support of our families and the commitment of our commissioners, coaches, and assistants.

Volunteers Needed

Every program benefits from extra hands — coaches, assistants, and helpers are always welcome across all sports. No prior experience is necessary, just enthusiasm for the community.

Beyond general volunteering, some programs specifically need a coordinator — someone to oversee scheduling, registration, communication, and logistics for the season. These roles are harder to fill but make a huge difference:

Coordinator Positions Currently Open
  • Bowling Program Coordinator — bring back Saturday bowling at T-Bowl in Wayne for North Haledon families
  • Pickleball Program Coordinator — help coordinate and grow the Pickleball program
  • Volleyball Program Coordinator — help launch indoor volleyball for North Haledon residents

Coaching Certification

All volunteer coaches in New Jersey are required to complete the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Clinic — a 3-hour certification course that meets NJ state standards and provides civil immunity protection to volunteer coaches. Certification is valid indefinitely once completed.
